About the Festival

Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik with glowing remarks in support of Shaolin Team Canada

Dear Fellow Shaolin Student,

We invite you to participate in our next Shaolin Team Canada Wushu Festival in the fall of 2027.

What makes our tournament so special is the emphasis on friendship through competition.

Whereas many tournaments are fixated on declaring a single 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finisher, we recognize the collective achievement of traditional Shaolin practitioners.

Instead, everyone wins and the colour of the medal is distributed as folllows: Gold Medal for the top 25% participants, Silver Medal for the next 25% participants, and Bronze Medal for the remaining participants.

Indeed, our festival provides a rare opportunity for all Shaolin practitioners to strive and enjoy the arts together as a community. Truly it gives us great way to celebrate and develop our community.

The question is, do you have this Shaolin Spirit?

We hope your school will join us and we look forward to hearing from you soon!

And what is the Shaolin Spirit? It is the portrayal of the Shaolin Virtues that each athlete embodies - focus, perseverance, strive, respect, compassion, and leadership.

And these Canadian athletes become the greatest role models, for all of us to look up to.
